Today in Edmonton, Minister Ambrose participated in the grand opening of the Women Building Futures Training Centre and Housing Facility. The new training centre substantially increases Women Building Futures’ student capacity and the housing facility means that they can accommodate more women, and their families, from across Alberta.
Since 1998, Women Building Futures has helped over 330 women achieve their dreams of a brighter future through training, workplace conditioning, job placement and job retention support. The new training center will allow the organization to increase that number to 400 graduates each year.
"Our Government is proud to support and encourage women to achieve their goals in new careers and to have invested in the Women Building Futures organization," said Minister Ambrose. "Our Government’s investments in this organization assist women in reaching their full potential in non-traditional careers and support the development of a skilled labour market in Alberta. This is a very important initiative that will support employers and help some women realize their dreams. We’re pleased to partner with the Province of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, Women Building Futures, employers and trade students in making this training facility and housing project a reality.”
