Minister Ambrose Supports our Troops on Red Friday at the Canadian Finals Rodeo

The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, Minister for Status of Women and Regional Minister for Northern Alberta, toured the Canadian Final Rodeo site at Northlands with John Windwick CFR Commissioner and 1st Vice Chair (Northlands) and Lt. Col. William Fletcher, Commanding Officer, 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (1 PPCLI) to show her support for Canadian Forces men and women on Red Friday.
“I am delighted to attend the 37th annual Canadian Finals Rodeo here in Edmonton and show my gratitude for our women and men in uniform. I hope that all Canadians who watch the CFR celebrate this Red Friday in recognition of the commitment and dedication of our troops; and I commend Northlands, the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association and the Edmonton Salutes Committee for their hard work in developing a partnership that enables us all to pay tribute to the members of our Canadian Forces." said Hon. Rona Ambrose.
“Northlands is proud to honour the commitment and sacrifice of the Canadian military and their families. Tonight at the CFR, Northlands will celebrate Red Friday and honour the service the military makes to all of us and our country. We are honoured to recognize the special place these men and woman hold in our community and our hearts.” said John Windwick, Commissioner, Canadian Finals Rodeo and 1st Vice-Chair, Northlands Board of Directors.
“As Canadians gathered this week to remember the sacrifices of those who came before and to whom we owe so much, it is both comforting and humbling to see communities and organizations pull together in support of those who currently serve. This support, manifested in events such as Red Friday, means more to our service men and women than we can express. Thank you for standing behind our troops and their families.” said Lt. Col. William Fletcher, Commanding Officer, 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (1 PPCLI).
The Canadian Finals Rodeo is the pinnacle of the rodeo season and it is one of the largest tourism events in the Edmonton region – we appreciate the efforts of so many CFR partners and sponsors to make sure our troops know just how proud of them we all are.
