Human Smugglers
I wish to advise the constituents of Edmonton-Spruce Grove of media reports about a human smuggling ship in Togo.
Our Conservative Government has been clear all along: human smugglers are trying to threaten our immigration system. The opposition and the illegal immigration lobby have been wrong in downplaying the threat Canada faces from these illegal human smuggling boats.
Our government recognizes that the Ocean Lady and Sun Sea were not one offs. Our government will do everything in our power to stop the human smuggling boats.
We call upon the Opposition to support our legislation to prevent human smugglers from abusing Canada's immigration system and support measures to prevent Canada from becoming a draw to bogus asylum claimants.
