Today in Edmonton, Minister Ambrose participated in the Grand Opening of TEC Edmonton’s TEC Centre, a lab and incubation facility for entrepreneurs, spin-off and start-up technology companies, located on the fourth floor of Enterprise Square.
The TEC Centre has 46,000 sq. ft. of flexible lease space for the tenants to conduct their business and develop their technologies. Benefiting from being in a cross-discipline environment, the tenants can access TEC Edmonton’s services as well as a variety of companies that support high-tech businesses. TEC Centre will serve as a major regional incubation hub providing technology commercialization services to early stage technology-based businesses.
The TEC Centre came to fruition through partnership between the federal, provincial and municipal governments as well as the University of Alberta.
“Today’s grand opening of the TEC Centre opens the door to new possibilities for increased science and technology commercialization throughout the region,” said Minister Ambrose. “The Government of Canada is proud to have invested $15 million to support a new generation of innovators in transforming their ideas into marketable products and services.”
