Released by the Auditor General’s Office, the report concludes:
- Canada will not meet its Kyoto targets;
- Canada’s climate change initiatives were poorly designed and loosely implemented;
- Monitoring and fiscal reporting of these programs were weak ; and
- Key portions of the Liberal plan were "shrouded in secrecy".
In short, for the Liberals, it was business as usual – all talk and no action.
Instead of showing contrition, former Environment Minister Stéphane Dion is campaigning for the Liberal leadership on an environmental platform of "more of the same".
Talk is cheap. It’s time for action. Where Liberals led with words and acronyms, Canada’s New Government will get things done for Canadians with a practical plan for the Environment that delivers a cleaner and greener Canada – for all of us.
