A lot has happened since Canada’s New Government took office. After years of scandal and inaction that only benefited a privileged few, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his government are getting things done for families and taxpayers:

• The most sweeping anti-corruption law in Canadian history was passed;
• 29 separate tax cuts were delivered, including a one point drop in the GST, and put $20 billion back in the pockets of hard-working Canadians – where it belongs;
• Families were empowered to make their own choices about how to raise their children with our Universal Childcare Benefit;
• Our communities were made safer by cracking down on street racing and taking action against money laundering by organized crime and terrorist groups;
• At gatherings of world leaders in Mexico, New York, St. Petersburg, Bucharest and Vietnam, our Prime Minister forcefully defended and advanced Canadian interests, and Canada’s values;
• The Americans were engaged – respectfully but forcefully – and together we resolved the softwood lumber dispute; and
• We started rebuilding our long-neglected Canadian Forces, stood 100% behind our troops in Afghanistan, and paid tribute to our veterans.

While much has been accomplished, there’s still more to do. We will cut taxes even further for families and individuals, restore fiscal balance to our federation, and continue to provide full support for our brave troops, diplomats and aid workers engaged in our vital mission in Afghanistan. And, more than anything else, Canadians want us to continue moving forward on practical, realistic and achievable strategies for protecting the environment.

For Canada, the choice is clear: move forward with a government and agenda that gets things done for families and taxpayers or turn back the clock to scandal and inaction.
